Thick deep red colour. Rich ripe dark fruit fragrance, oak tar graphite spice is intense, smooth. Fleshy, creamy texture, fine slightly chalky tannins. Briary herbal spice, adds complexity to an intense blue and black berry fruit palate. Ink and iron filings plus a hint of bacon all chip in to build a rich complex profile. Plenty of bulk to keep it going another 5 years.

Decanted Deep red. Fine, spicy nose after an hour. Initially quite dank - musty , mushroomy characters. This flowed through to the palate. Rich but with breathing, tight, firm Aussie Shiraz. Not the Rhone. Lacks the elegance of the Rhone, though it is not blowsy like a typical aged Aussie shiraz.

Very tight, and dry, although a little dirty - in a good way. Fine tannic backbone. Roast meat, smoke, olive tapenade, amongst some still primary fruit. No bricking, years ahead of it. Excellent stuff.

This bottle was markedly better than the last one so I have given it an updated rating.
A beautiful nose, one that carries to goodness of dark fruits, vanilla, spice. Body was quite savoury, quite different to some cooler vintages from Giaconda - rich, refined tannin, taunt but very refined.
Drink now or 6+ years.

Deep deep colour but beyond its peak as pulls up short but is fresh up front and little evidence of bricking
