Maybe the best grenache of my life. All the elements are singing. Nose is pungently dark fruit and plummy. Flavors are deep, complex, well balanced with just the right acidity and long lasting. Wow!

2016 Chateauneuf du Pape 99/100 point wine taste-off (and a couple of pirate Rhone wines): Funky and a bit barnyard, this was one of the least fruit-driven of the 2016 CdPs. Leather and garrigue dominate the front end, with raspberry and black cherry coulis rounding out the profile. Finishes a touch thin and funky. Not flawed but just not too exciting, especially surrounded by all of the other attention monger CdPs in the lineup.

Decanted 2.5 hours. Finely structured young CdP with raspberry, kirsch, dark chocolate. Quite intense on the palate with lots of high notes. Enjoyable but not my favorite style; others will rate higher.

Rated between tasting now (93) and potential (95+) Gorgeous dark fruit, well balanced But you can taste the heat and alcohol despite serving at 17 degrees When the heat softens and the works integrate she could be incredible

Dark red; dark berries, licorice; rounded and rich with good acidity, licorice, dark chocolate / tobacco aftertaste; really nice
