Community Tasting Notes (1) Avg Score: 92 points

  • Appearance: Bright and clear, the wine is of medium ruby colour, with fading rims and legs.
Nose: Clean, with medium (+) intensity aromas of black fruit of blackcurrant, red fruit of ripe cherries and plum, floral notes of perfume, pungent spice of black pepper, kernel notes of coffee, oak notes of toast, maturity notes of savoury. The wine is developing.
Palate: Dry with medium acidity, the wine has medium (+) tannin of ripe and silky texture, medium alcohol, with medium body and medium (+) intensity flavours of black fruit of blackberry, red fruit of plum, oak notes of toast, kernel notes of chocolate, sweet spice of nutmeg. The wine has a medium (+) finish.
Conclusion: Very good quality Cote-Rotie with an intense nose showing good complexity, with ripe black and red fruit characters supplemented with a nice perfume note, clearly highlighting the Viognier in the blend, along with some nice oak and spicy notes. On the palate the wine has a nice elegance, robust yet not over-powering, with good concentration on flavours and a good length on the finish. It is ready to drink now but can further develop for another 3-5 years.
