Gold. The nose has the complexity of age, yet the palate is clean and fresh. Salty with almondy profile and tertiary aromas. Yeasty honeyed with alpine dry flowers and cheese cave smell. Oxidative style. Only 12%. Wonderful wine.
NB: Altesse varietal is named “Roussette” because of the color of the grape that goes from rosé to a ginger color upon reaching maturity. It is produced in single vineyards and vinified into dry, mellow or sparkling white wines. Because of the long period required for the grape to reach ripeness, it is quite an acidic product that also is blessed with good aging potential. The wines elaborated with the Altesse varietal are generally quite fiery and generous white wines, with aromas of pineapple, lemon, almond, and honey. Behind these generous aromas, the Altesse offers a delicate and luxurious style. This varietal, susceptible to various diseases attacking the vines, is still quite vigorous and is often planted in mountains. Here are a few winemakers originating from Savoie that must not be missed as their products are available for tasting in the province of Québec: Brice Omont (Domaine des Ardoisières), Etienne and Raphael Saint Germain (Domaine Saint Germain) and Michel Grisard (Prieuré Saint Christophe).
