Medium ruby color slightly lighter at the rim. Cherry, plum and cassis hit the olfactory senses right out of the gate with licorice and faint wafts of cedar in the background. Tannins come across fairly silky with just a touch of dryness. The ripeness of the red fruit in this wine seems a little disjointed at this stage of development, perhaps some age will bring more nuance. Overall a pleasant wine.

WSET, Level 3 Advanced Certifcation Training; 3/11/2018-4/22/2018 (Texas Wine School at the Food & Wine Foundation of Texas, Austin, TX): Tasting sample. Clear, medium ruby color. Developing nose with medium minus aromas of cherry, plum, oak, and some evolving earth tones. Dry palate with medium flavors of tart cherry and plum. Medium body and alcohol. Medium plus acidity and medium plus tannin support a medium plus finish. Very good quality wine exhibiting great balance, solid intensity, good length, but lacks complexity which is evolving. Can drink now but has potential for further aging.
