A nose of time and place ,saline and garrigue. A nose that makes me want to jump on the train to Provence Elizabeth David talked about . Soft, taffeta textured wine - long ,herby allspice noted finish.

Curious really, a region I like a good deal, but just like the straight 2016 Ste Magdelaine cassis in 2019 (see note), this is a disappointment. One point more but barely. 50 year old vines, but somehow this cocktail of Clairette, Marsanne, Ugni Blanc and Bourboulenc doesn't really work for me. Some Roussanne, Grenache Blanc or Gris would help perhaps?

Floral, perfumed nose and up front... minimal fruit (orange peal) leads to a complex, chalky, almost soapy middle with slight viognier-esque oiliness before finishing fairly quick on a slight lift. Lean top and bottom around that fairly intense middle... delicious and distinctly coastal Provencal.
