Tasted this Malbec both with and without an aerator. Without, the wine expressed strong pepper, tanginess, muted fruit. With aeration, the fruit comes thru a bit more as the spiciness is somewhat muted. Liked the finish as fairly long with a smooth ending. Not much aroma. Wine is fine and a value at $9.

Steve: meh. Tastes like mass produced wine. Not bad. A little sweet. Very pallid. Almost weak. Not a great nose. But it is passable if you need a wine for $25 at a restaurant (but no more). Has nice sourness too.
Jula: mediocre at best. Drinkable but not enjoyable like a good wine.

Sat, 09/22/18, $2 Tasting (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): From grapes grown in Altamira (≈3,773 ft above sea level) & Gualtallary (≈4,430 ft above sea level) in rocky & mineral soils with a high chalk content; Typically aged 10 mos in 1st, 2nd, & 3rd use FR oak;
N: RIPE, *profoundly* smoky; INTENSITY lurking
P: Med, poss LM, body; Nice, almost swtish frt balanced by acidity that transitions into a LONG, very, VERY slightly tangy finish with a definite quasi-bitter flatness coming on. For now & into, POSS through, '20. Over extracted (?) @ the worst, disjointed @ the least. My VG-, but only for certain palates. 92 pts Suckling. [This vendor's $9.95 is $1 < anyone else currently listed on wine-searcher.]

Bright, crunchy red fruits, and certainly more expressive than run-of-the-mill malbec. It went nicely with lasagne, cutting through the richness of the sauce.

A decent wine for pairing with spicy food. Starts very peppery, then shifts to cranberry with a citrus finish.
