  deep purple color, spicy plum nose with hints of black pepper, toasty oak, on the palate a bit of polish, drying tannins and oak largely cover what is an otherwise very attractive mid-weight fruit, slight vegetal notes as well, it has been a long time since I last encountered La Jota and this time I find this and the Cabernet almost too backward where in the mid 90s they could be very showy and enjoyable in youth though not always with a good long distance record, not a great showing today but if this proves a worthy example for aging then it could come out fine in the end, the balance is there despite the current appearance of things.
