This ebbed and flowed between “wow” and “huh”. I loved the olive and meaty notes, but they were intermittently interrupted by nail polish and other astringent unpleasantries. Maybe just an awkward spot - and still quite good! — but will wait a couple years on the next bottle.

This St. Joseph is intensive, dense, structured, acidic and tannic on the palate, displaying stylish notes of blackberry, other dark berries, smoke and crushed rock. The wine is not overwhelmingly fruity, and it gives a somewhat sour and thin impression at first. However, when the wine has opened in the glass, it appears to have fully enough fruit, and it also has a balanced and pleasant character at the end.

Excellent from PnP and over a few hours with and without a meal. Savory and meaty and turned earth on the nose with some cooler fruits joined by dominant dark fruits going towards liquorish and some minerality. As it gained air I got some cedar spice on the backend. Hard to keep the nose out the glass on this.
Silly good QPR as a mystery wine at $20 four years ago. Wow.

The nose is very fragrant and expressive. Compared to last time I had it, the palate has balanced out and was more enjoyable this time.
