Dark robe, clear at the edges, not much sign of age. An hour after opening, nose of black fruits to the fore, later developing menthol, green peppers, hints of tobacco. Medium to medium+ weight, fruit as one would expect from a St Em, smooth albeit grippy tannins, and arguably insufficient acidity. Perfectly adequate with brochettes d'agneau, but not really a wine that speaks to my passions.

Subtle nose of some wild lavender, black cherry, blackberry leaf, some eucalyptus and earthy mushroom. Medium bodied, very finessed. Red currant and juicy plum fruit with some graphite. A little watery on the tangy finish, as well as some rustic tannins. May fill out, but probably riding its peak. Delicious if you like four-square Bordeaux (which I do). 100% Merlot from a 40 year old 7 acre vineyard in the south of St. Emilion aged 20 months in barrel. 5,000 cases made.

Second of two bottles. Preferred first one. There’s just no complexity and a bit too much wood. Better with food. At $20 a bottle it’s solid QPR but imo not an over deliver.

Good PQR! Needs about 10-15 min to open but smooth sailing after
