End of an era. LaMontagne was the first wine club I ever joined and I managed to hang on to a few bottles after Kimberly retired, until only this one remained.
And it was just right. It had a healthy dollop of Pinot stankfunk on the nose that persisted through the evening, right in my wheelhouse. The ten years of age did wonders on the palate. The wine danced across my tongue, light on its feet with bright red fruits and very good acidity on the finish. Soft tannins.
This was a great wine to end on; I was able to reflect on the many years of satisfaction LaMontagne wines brought me over the years without wishing I had a few more bottles. A real pleasure to drink.
