Decanted over 4 hours and took about 3 to truly open up, was quite tannic and bitter with a certain steaminess; at times flashes of bright ripe red cherry would emerge, but mostly was brambly with some black cherry, moderate length finish, I fear I opened this too young should probably wait a couple years before opening another, but did become quite enjoyable after a few hours in the decanter.

CdT tasting at Phenol. Line-up of Beaune Grèves. Very fun. Wines were quite distinct.
Beaune 1er Cru Grèves, Vigne de L'Enfant Jesus, Bouchard Père et Fils 2016 - U3. Young. U4 potential. Light and layered, but still muted. One of JF's favorites of night.
Beaune 1er Cru Grèves, Joseph Drouhin 2015. U2. Too young, but has potential of '09. Took a while to open.
Beaune 1er Cru Grèves, Vigne de L'Enfant Jesus, Bouchard Père et Fils 2012. P3. Heavier than '16 but still a nice, layered wine.
Beaune 1er Cru Grèves, Joseph Drouhin 2012. Strong Y3. Great nose. Less finish.
Beaune 1er Cru Grèves, Joseph Drouhin 2009. G3/R4. Would not have picked as CdB in blind tasting.
Beaune 1er Cru Grèves, Joseph Drouhin 2006. G3. Stemmy/cork on nose, which some really disliked. I would drink this wine anytime.
Beaune 1er Cru Grèves, Domaine de Montille 2005. R3. More subtle than expected. Beautiful structure, but everything tuned down. Maybe bc last wine of night?

Opened tasted and put away for the next day. V tight tannic driven on initial tasting. Second day this barely opened up. Slight hint of dark fruit but mostly tannins and oak. Save your bottles and wait until year 10+

Drank up against the '13 and '15 . consensus was that this was big and chewy. Crowd fave was '13 ... more elegant and complex

Deep in color, but clear. Complex aromas, but still very tight. Needs time.
