Translucent crimson in color, this wine reveals pomegranate, raspberry and sage on the nose. The mouth feel is light bodied with more raspberry as well as thyme. The finish is surprisingly long and beautifully balanced. 13.5% abv.
Purchased for $23US, this was a delicious offering that drank well above its price point. I loved this much more than the 2013 vintage.

Pale brick and translucent. Nose of red cherry, charcoal and liquorice. The flavours are great; red cherry, spice, pepper, medium body, slight astringency on the long finish. Elegant and very enjoyable.

Bottle off the wine list over lunch at Ibid. Stelvin screw-cap. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of stony minerality, raspberries, cranberries, maraschino cherries. Youthful. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13.5%), low tannins, medium body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of sweet raspberries, strawberries, cranberries, bright red cherries, stony minerality, some slight green stems and smoky spice from the whole bunch fermentation. Medium+ finish. Good quality. New World elegance. Fruity but light restrained style. Reminds me of Mornington Peninsula Pinots from Australia. Drink young and fresh, probably not a long ager. A blend of fruit from vineyards in Santa Cruz Mountains and Monterey. Some whole clusters used. One third aged in cement, two third in old barriques. Learning point here: The Santa Cruz Mountains terroir really does seem to confer a certain stony minerality element to the wines.

Cool color notes Scott, really light. Savory fruit in there, like a slightly mature Burgundy. Santa Cruz Mountains fruit. Juicy fruit, soft mid palate, good length.

Historic Vineyard Society Tasting, nose of black cherry fruit, dusty gravel road, same on the palate, medium/big body, touch dry, touch simple, medium/long finish.
