Bright, medium (+) ruby, with a purple hue and great concentration, from allegedly 150-year old vines. Unfiltered. The nose is clean and intense, with aromas of ripe red cherry, candied violets, aromatic herbs and sweet spices. The nose is youthful, and there's just a hint of oak from 7 to 8 months in used barrels. The palate is dry, consistent with the nose. Medium to medium (+) acidity, medium tannins and medium alcohol (13%). Medium-bodied, with medium (+) flavor intensity and a long, spicy finish. It is drinking well now and should continue to show well for several more years. This is one of the more "serious" Beaujolais that I have tried in a while; it would give many a Burgundy a run for the money and is utterly delicious.
