Nice price for this wine. It's really pretty interesting how this both does and yet does not resemble Italian Barbera. The nose of this wine is smoky black cherry and rose petal. A little bit of herbs and baking spices. The entry is robust, really thick yet not explosively acidic. Has the youthful sweetness, yet it is restrained enough that it didn't require food to knock it down a few notches. Middle of this wine is just very well balanced black cherry, brambly black berries but without the raw "grape-stem" character. Finishes more acidic than it starts, and really has a nice finish that shows its more raucous character. Has a ton of growing to do. This will appreciate in the bottle for probably 2-3 more years, and drink well for 5 years or so. Guess I'll never know, since this is my one and only bottle.

First winery on our second day in Napa Valley is Reverie II Winery with Austin and Pedals as our hosts. First red wine is the Barbera bottling from the Red Rock Vineyard in El Dorado at an elevation of 2,654 feet.
Medium to deep ruby red with lighter edges. Nice fragrant nose with red berries, spices, black cherries and cinnamon. A touch of floral notes too. Solid acidity with medium tannins (6/10) and medium to medium plus body. Dry palate with dark cherries, minerality and crushed spices. Medium plus to long finish. Drink till 2024.

Enjoyed it’s nice nose. Not as dry as Italian barbera.
