Bottle Tasting of 2016s with Patrice Rion (Premeaux-Prissey): A Nuits St. Georges 0.93 ha monopole. A bouquet of spicy red plums and cherries, menthol and rocky minerals. A touch of toasty oak in the background. On palate, full, rich and smooth. More concentrated and structured than the Clos des Argillières. Juicy, succulent fruit. Again, silky texture and tannins but with some austerity on the finish. It'll need 5-7+ years I'd think. My preferred wine from the tasting.

Really fresh and stormy aromas with an amazing smoky feeling. When this has settled, appealing darker red berries come along with licorice and minerals. Slightly unbalanced flavors, though good. Pretty rich and quite powerful Clos Saint-Marc. Still, it is possible to preserve the wonderful freshness of the fruit with delicious redcurrant fruit and licorice. Pretty tannin structure. Long and good finish. Great wine. 93 points.
