  • Served double blind. Very pale, almost clear colour indicating its incredible youthfulness. Lemon twist and classic cold rolled steel reduction flavours. Very fresh with white fruits. Clearly a BdB. I guessed comtes!

  • I had the pleasure of bringing a gracefully aged bottle of Charles Heidsieck Blanc des Millénaires 2004 to a special occasion.

Upon pouring, it displayed an elegant straw yellow color that caught the light marvelously. Thriving aromas immediately filled the glass, with an animating mix of brioche, zesty lemon peel, crisp green apple, and emerging nutty notes that promised complexity and depth. The first sip confirmed that this champagne had retained its vibrancy through the years, offering very elegant bubbles.

It served as a remarkable example of how well champagne can mature, acquiring richness while preserving its freshness, making it exceptionally versatile for pairing with a variety of dishes.

To enhance the tasting experience, @ma chose the Pinot glass from Spiegelau. This particular glassware is designed to amplify the subtle nuances of such a complex champagne. A gentle caution, though—the expansive shape may accelerate the release of bubbles, leading to a swifter transition to a still wine-like character. I personally appreciate this evolution, as it allows the wine’s nuances to shine more brightly. However, for those who prefer to maintain the sparkling vibrancy a bit longer, a universal glass might better suit your preference.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to the team at Ameo for their impeccable hospitality and contribution to a truly memorable experience.

  • Young, tight: nice chalkiness. I preferred this to Comtes 2004 opened a few weeks ago, my dinner partner went the toher way around. Best drinking years still ahead
