Saturday late night at Maison Dakota. Tasted blind. Drank in Conterno Sensory. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, purplish ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of ripe red cherries, iron minerality, meat. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol (13.5%), medium+ tannins, medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of spice, iron minerality, meat, ripe red cherries, ripe red plums, redcurrant. Long finish. Very good quality. Ambitious and packed with concentrated substance. Iron-rich soil of the vineyard terroir showing. Started off quite primary on pop and pour and gradually evolved. Fully open when finished off on 2nd night.

A private dinner (Hotel / Restaurant De Nederlanden *, Vreeland, NL): Youthful but accessible, precise and transparent, beautifully chiselled minerality, roses and violets, Asian spices, complex and layered fruit (peach, strawberry, raspberry, blueberry, cassis), bright and perfectly balanced, firm but percaline tannins, elegant weight and cool minerality, silky texture, slightly sweet oak, still tight on the very long and focused finish. Exemplary Petits Monts in a relatively modern style, very primary and very delicious as such, all components are well defined, but they need at least five years now to achieve their inner harmony. Drink now or 2026-2036+.
