  • Effortlessly pure and correct with softness; a woman’s touch.
    Lovely.

  • Wicked nose - smells of fruitcake, spices
Mouth - sappy and grippy, lots going on here, layers of flavor. Quite an astonishing value in red wine and one of my favorite Italian wines. Need to try their Brunello.

  • Once again a great rosso - with so much freshness and an excellent balance. Happy to stay at 93.

  • Opening my last bottle of the '16 Rosso, having tasted and commented on this bottling on two other occasions (10/19/20 and 4/15/20). In sum, this Rosso continues to evolve beautifully and reveals a wonderful density of flavors.

This is a spectacular Rosso, which easily surpasses many BdMs. Color is medium dark red with no hints of old age. Nose is rich and elegantly integrated - especially for Sangiovese. The palate is also quite rich and fills the mouth a number of beautiful flavors. Overall, the flavor profile is extreemly well balanced with fruit taking the lead while the acids play a wonderful supporting roll.

Dark cherry and black licorice are core elements within this wine, which present themselves beautifully throughout the palate. In addition, a magical floral component blooms midway in the mouth, adding lift and delicate notes to the profile; this was something noted in earlier reviews. Toward the end, concomitant touches of orange zest, anise seed, red raspberry, and red apple provide the finish that keeps the mouth engaged. Within the mix are flavors of strawberry and balsamic richness that add additional levels of complexity. It is a beautiful wine and I can only imagine how lovely their Brunello must be.

This Rosso is in the zone right now and can be enjoyed for an few more years – maybe a bit longer. Could it last 10 years until 2026? Maybe, but perhaps it is better to enjoy this wine in the present (2021 – 2023) while one waits for their BdMs to start to awaken ten years out. Wish I had more.

(Served with classic spaghetti and spicy tomato meat sauce. Excellent food/wine combo.)

  • delectable, bitter tinged red fruits that glide across the palate and down the throat effortlessly. When its all said and done, I'm left realizing the tannins are still formidable. time for another sip.
