  • In an extremely elegant place at the moment, with some hints on the palate that it might fall over in the next few years. For now, age-softened tannin, very well-integrated oak and pretty, slightly cooked red fruit. Initially a little volatile, but that blows off with decanting; throws a very big, very fine sediment. A special bottle, due to advanced age and rarity, a fine experience.

  • With only 200 cases made, this is not easy to find. But if you ever see a bottle, grab it! Youthful and fresh at close to 23 years of age, this deeply colored beauty is loaded to the gills with smoke, licorice, black cherry and creme de cassis. Full-bodied, rich, lush, round and deep, the finish goes on and on. The 15% ABV is buried beneath the wealth of fruit. This is one of the top older California Syrah wines produced. I wish I had more than one bottle remaining.

  • This is singing. There is no way this is anywhere close to being over the hill. It has years left. A bit hot but not unbalanced. Great fruit, blackberry, some smoke, graphite. Delicious. It could go for at least 5 years but why wait. It's in a great spot. One left.

  • Tomato puree, red bell peppers, very warm nose, iodine and rust notes. On the decline and especially when compared to the E raised next to it it seemed at least a decade older. Drink up

  • Not decanted, and didn't need any air to open, but would have been good to filter for sediment. This is perfectly mature and still has a few more good years left. It's a quiet giant; the age has mellowed it but there's still so much power. Tons of mint on the nose and palate, big jammy red cherry fruit profile, a bit on the hot side but not overdone. Very classy. Drink now-2017.
