Oh boy. That is nice. 2 hour splash decant. Roast duck for dinner. Fruit pronounced but back bone very much present. This is great now with lots of air but will be better if I can keep my hands off it. Great wine

This is obviously way too young, but I opened the bottle on Friday, and it's now Tuesday when I'm finishing the last glass, so I've had a chance to track its evolution (which has not been very far, admittedly). I bought a case of this based on the promise of a few bottles of the case of the '15 that I bought last year. This is definitely not your father's Pommard, as it is made in a more elegant, restrained style; more approachable in its youth, lacking the rustic, fierce tannins that characterize many wines from this region. Lovely, perfumed floral nose, marked by cherry and crushed gravel notes. Bright bing cherry fruit, crunchy and stony in the midpalate, with a long, tart finish. Did I mention the mineral streak? Drinking well now, but lots of potential too. This is a producer to watch.

Wild dark berry flavors intermingle brilliantly with fascinating Indian spice, fresh pine needle, forest floor, cremini mushroom, and the slightest tinge of burnt orange peel notes. Even more alluring than when I had this back in April. Extended air heightened the experience of rocketing flavor expansion. So much popping energy and power for such a dark-profiled and earth-injected Pommard.
This somehow totally avoids that overly dreary, damp and wet animale embodiment and instead is able to pump out some terrior-driven flavors but with a fresh and uplifting performance. Finishes with pulsating animation and some raw intensity. Potent and thrilling.
Great now, but some short-term time in bottle will shake off some of the rusticity still on the tail (mainly from the sheer power this wine exudes). And with the DIAM 10 enclosure - which I've been pimping recently - there's that added layer of protection with some of these Burgs for those of us who don't like to watch our investments get sniped by TCA and premox. Bravo Xavier!

Mineral and spice with beautiful dark fruits. Really nice bottle of red burgundy. Will improve with time in the bottle.
