Well made wine. Earthy, herbal, and slightly spicy nose, with ripe and brambly raspberry and blackberry. Palate richer than many other wines from region, befitting this varietal. Has good mineral mouthfeel, adequate+ acid, mild but present tannins carrying a dark fruit core with slight herbal astringency.

Beautiful deep ruby red color. Med+ body. Med+ acidity, med tannin. Wine maker's pairings include veggie and fish dishes but I can't imagine a veggie dish or even a spicy, tomato-based cioppino or cacciucco that would match well. I'd say, a braised pork or sausage over polenta is a more equal pairing. Or grilled beef or Bolognese. Or even spicy Mexican meat enchiladas! Hearty. Good Value.
