This plot of Marsannay is the most known within the appelation. Pataille is recognized for his natural growing methods and the 8 years in the cellars were necessary to reveal the frutiness of this wine: a mouthful of rpen cherries.

Several reviewers have commented on this wine’s slightly acerbic or even fizzy roughness on the palate. The sort of rough edges you find on a coltish teenager. But this seems to be a weird phenomenon that dissipates after 60mins. So it just needs air to open up. Then you have a silky red fruit driven wine which is balanced, approachable and rather decent. The nose is quite exotic and “spicy”

An aromatic bouquet leads to ripe red fruits showing on the palate. This was showing great as a wine, though I didn't find its roughness that charming.
I thought this was a great food wine with slices of chilled beef, dried tomatoes and potato chips.
