  Appearance: Bright and clear, the wine is of light ruby colour, with fading garnet rims and legs.
  Nose: Clean, with medium intensity aromas of red fruit of cherries and cranberry, mineral notes of earth, sweet spice of clove and cinnamon, maturity notes of forest floor, oak notes of cedar. The wine is developing.
  Palate: Dry with medium (+) acidity, the wine has medium (+) tannin of ripe and silky texture, medium alcohol, with medium (-) body and medium (+) intensity flavours of red fruit of cherries and raspberry, oak notes of toast, sweet spice of clove, maturity notes of forest floor. The wine has a medium (+) finish.
  Conclusion: Very good quality Australia Pinot Noir with a reasonably intense nose showing good complexity, with nice red fruit and oak notes, supplemented with abundance of sweet spice and some forest floor notes. On the palate the wine has good acidity, lively and vibrant, with good tannin and concentrated flavours as well as a fairly long finish. It is ready to drink now and can further develop for another 3-5 years.

  Opened and decanted, about 2 hours into the drinking window it improved but still no where as approachable and aromatic as the 16 sangreal we had.

  The nose is clean.   This is a very good quality wine. The flavours have a great balance with the acidity and a good balance with the alcohol. Some warmth from the alcohol shows on the palate. The tannins provide some structure to the wine, but the acidity leads this wine to be on the lighter side of medium body. The flavours show good concentration (a wine of higher quality would show more concentration and a longer length). In its current state, the wine is complex showing primary, secondary, and some tertiary characteristics (a wine of higher quality would show more complexity). The primary fruit core is enjoyable and is well supported by more savoury notes. The secondary components (oak), and the use of whole-berry fermentation and stems are very well integrated; not awkwardly poking out. The finish has a great length that allows the flavours to linger in a very interesting and enjoyable manner.
  
  The wine drinks well now, but is suitable for further ageing. The fruit shows great concentration, and the acid and tannin structure should support the wine as tertiary notes develop.

  A beautiful cherry red colour with ample red fruit on both nose and palate but enough forest and hint of mushroom to pay homage to a northern cote de nuit. Complex and taut in structure gives promise for further development in years to come. My favourite new world pinot.
