  • First glass from the bottle was screaming blueberries. After 2 1/2 hours in the decanter this remained exceptionally dark in the glass, quickly dripping down the inside of the stems.

Nose is a blend of blackberries and raspberries, picking up coffee and caramel as well. Berries drive the flavor profile, and while my earlier tastes had some alcohol burn towards my stomach, that dissipated with time in the decanter.

As found in my last sampling this is lighter across the palate than I'd suspect. The finish lasts a bit longer than my experience 2 1/2 years ago but im still looking for more.

Solid wine, though at least for this vintage I want more depth, structure and layering at this price point. I have had a more rewarding experience with other vintages. Drink up with minimal decant time

UPDATE: i reserved 1/4 of the wine in the bottle rather than decanting; while the finish still isn't as long as I'd want, the wine is darker, more primal and more enjoyable from the bottle 3.5 hrs after opening than the deacnt

  • Decanted 1/2 the bottle for 90 mins. Nose is still a bit tight, but opens up to coffee, vanilla, caramel and oak. I’d take this for a Bordeaux blend if I didn’t know otherwise.

There’s a bit of spice and oak on the finish, which I’d like to last a bit longer, but this is a smooth, sophisticated wine that’s drinking quite well. In a great place, there’s little difference between what’s in the decanter and what remains in the bottle, leaving me uncertain about the wines overall longevity.

With only 1 more bottle of this vintage, I’ll decant if drinking within 3 years, pop and pour otherwise. If the finish lasted longer I’d add a few points to my rating.

  • This is a phenomenal cab that was lovely on the open. We sampled the wine initially and then drank it after a bottle decant of 4 hours. Very plush wine filled with black fruit flavor, cassis and a wonderful jammy mouthfeel (from the first sip). The first sips were a bit closed but still luscious; after 4 hours it was a "classic" cab - beautifully nuanced and balanced. For a young cab it great and not overwhelming relative to tannins.

  • Opened for a tasting at the winery; these notes are based on enjoying the balance of the bottle seven hours After opening (not decanted .)

While this is obviously still a young wine, it has softened significantly since opening.
Gobs of tannin, yet approachable enough that it doesn’t dry your mouth out; just lets you know that this has the capacity to age for many years.

Clove, dark plum and dark blackberry are dominant flavors on a canvas that exhibits spice box, oak, and a bit of vanilla and dark, unsweetened chocolate.

  • Beautiful wine and drinks like a much more expensive bottle.
