  We were pleased with the Sebastiani as a good bargain wine when we bought it. Several tastings in the interim were very satisfactory. I had misgivings when I opened this bottle, though, put off by a heavy pencil lead nose and an indeterminate center on the palate. I vacuum-corked the bottle and let it sit overnight.
  
  Tasting a day later I was of mixed mind. The round, mellow, fruit-forward character I remember was quite different - a drier, more complex taste that seems far more French than Californian. Once I decided to forget the wine's origins and adopt an open mind, I found myself enjoying it as a complement to a moderately spicy meal. To my taste it's not a typical Sonoma Cab Sav any longer, but has grown into a uniquely interesting wine. Perhaps not for everyone, though.

  Ce vin m'impressionne à chaque fois. Conservé 3 ans lui a permis de fondre ses tannins au fruit et ainsi révéler un vin avec beaucoup de présence et fut une superbe expérience. Comme rapport Q/P, difficile de faire mieux. Et c'est un vin américain! Quand ils veulent sortir de leurs vins industrialisés sans aucune personnalité, ils nous donnent d'excellents produits dans cette gamme e prix. Il faut juste les chercher pour les découvrir. Un peu comme un CD rare dans un bac de liquidation!

  Nice deep inky color, with no visible age showing yet. Dark plums and black cherry aromas with charcoal and some bramble notes. Lots of fruit on the palate, but also has some minerality and tarriness. Not a heavy wine, but has enough body, although acidity could be brighter. Pretty interesting for a $15 wine, and this should hold for another 2-3 years.
