Second bottle from this vintage from a wine I really like. This vintage is not so intense neither in the smell nor in the mouth. Balanced, elegant but not so intense as it usually is.

A wonderful value, Paul Blanck’s 2016 Pinot Blanc is a limpid, slightly burnished gold in the glass. Crafted from 100% Pinot Blanc grown in gravel, sand and clay-limestone soils on south-facing slopes, it is a terroir-driven, elegant wine replete with notes of yellow apple, d’Anjou pear, underripe pineapple, line dried-linen, and catmint. There’s weight on the palate, roundness and appealing suppleness neatly intersected by a vein of acidity that picks up energy and seafoam-tinged minerality as it ebbs.

Some Alsace Wines: Pale yellow color. Nose of crushed shells, raw almond, honeysuckle, over peaches and apples. Rich texture but medium-body, brisk acid meets plump apricot and peach. Notes of salty seashells on a dry and crisp finish – a summer day, oysters and shellfish style Pinot Blanc.

Tasted at the Skurnik Grand Portfolio Tasting in NYC. Poured by Philippe Blanck. This was my first time tasting wines from this Domaine and I thought all were quite good and worth seeking out for their good value and quality overall. All organically farmed and made with indigenous yeasts with plenty of terroir-expression. The Pinot Blanc d'Alsace is moderately richly textured with good acidity and minerality along with citrus, melon, vanilla and marzipan flavors. Great QPR, priced generally in the low-to-mid-teens USD.
