Not much on the nose, just hints of wheat and apple. The palate shows strong, hard acidity, lots of minerality, and hints of chalk and lime. Not knowing what wines we were tasting, but knowing this was something 'unconventional', I guessed it was a sparkling Riesling. It turned out to be my first ever sparkling Marsanne. Based on this wine, it's a style I'm keen to try again.
