Copper. Red fruits, licorice, honey. Seems more integrated than previously. The palate is very harmonious, a slight sherried / oxidative element with the fruit and acid in a lovely harmony. Very long.

Didn’t live up to my high expectations. Sherry/oxidative note overpowered everything else so wasn’t particularly complex on nose/palate as I would expect. Typical LdH acidity and long finish, but my guess is that these may be hitting the back end of their peak drinkability (not something I’d normally assert with this producer).

Restaurant service. Bright salmon-copper color with hints of amber. Beguiling aromatics of peach nectar, dried fig, honeysuckle bloom, allspice, hints of hazelnut, dried hibiscus and forest floor. Carries this onto the palate, as racy and intense notes of bing cherry and lime zest emerge in the wine, along with a mineral salinity and salted almond note, that highlights the integration described from the nose in a vivid and palpable way. It’s a fascinating mix of flavors and sensations. Texturally, the wine is crisp and fresh, with round seamless elegance and medium body, carried with verve and structure indicating its nobility and life ahead. Long and graceful and elegant through the palate and finish. One of my WOTY.

This bottle was more reserved on the nose than the previous one tasted 3 years ago - unsure if it is bottle variation, or the wine starting to "decline". It's still unmistakable as a LdH rose - that house style in their rose and whites is clear on the palate, with that majestic acid spine that crescendos wonderfully. Refreshing, complex.

Rose but made in a totally singular style. Coconut oak, sherry like oxidative nose, pomegranate, grapefruit, guava.. finishes really well too. Goes really well with the thick creamy seafood dishes we had that night.
