This had been sitting in the cellar since I purchased it in a mixed case of Lucas and Lewellen wines from Wine.woot. I had long ago forgotten anything I had read about the wine when I bought it and had no expectations of it. I pulled it from the cellar and popped the cork for casual sipping. After pouring a glass, I let it sit for 15 or 20 minutes to warm up a bit, then took a sip. I was wowed! This is a wine that just hit what I like in a red wine. Full-bodied, lots of fruit and spicy aromas echoed in the taste. Pleasant oakiness. A nice, long finish leaving me wanting more - much more. I know that my rating is well above the average on Cellar Tracker, but this is my kind of wine and I am enjoying it a lot. Just for grins, I tried the "Tasting Note Assistant" in Cellar Tracker and came up with the following. The wine looks Garnet colored. The legs are Slow. It smells like Blackberry, Black currant (cassis), Prune, Light toast, Black Pepper, Clove, and Plum. It tastes like Blackberry, Black currant (cassis), Prune, Plum, Black Pepper, and Clove. The body is Medium/Full. The wine is textured Round. The wine finishes Long.
