This was very generously served by our host to accompany lunch starter of lobster. It was certainly a surprise to be offered the chance to taste a 20+ year old Californian chardonnay. Bright gold in colour, the nose is rich, honeyed and slight mustard. Rich and well balanced, the palate showed marmalade and roasted chestnuts. Yes, it was very mature and obviously past its peak, but it was still drinking well and held up for half an hour whilst we ate our lobster. I think this demonstrates how decent Californian chardonnays will keep for many years if stored well. Great experience to taste.

No detailed notes. Drank w/ FBM and crew. An older chardonnay, but it still works.
