  • Consistent with my prior note. Winery write up of the flavor profile is fairly accurate. Ripe, rich flavors of currant, boysenberry, espresso and wet oak. Very good both days of a two day drink. Second day much more blended and mellow.

  • Opened about 2 hours before diving in. Lovely dark deep ruby core with slightly lighter translucent edges. Like always these mountain fruit beauties are so aromatic, filling the room with a medley of plum, red cherries and other red fruits just leaving their bright youthful period. Once approaching the glass there is bitter cocoa, vanilla and a touch of bay leaf. On later glasses the spice turns to a bit of cinnamon, tobacco and licorice. This one has entered a nice drinking window it appears, fruit has integrated and softened nicely, palate is well balanced with good acidity and a medium to medium plus body. On the palate with red cherries, violets and cigar box the flavor profiles. The long lingering finish introduces a bit of a licorice sweetness with a vanilla hint. Will try to make it a couple more years before the next bottle, just delightful.

  • Think I opened too young. All the right elements there but overrun by bracing acidity. Didn't really let up much over 4 hours.

  • Terrific wine drinking well right now. Drank over the course of two days and remained good the second day. Full bodied. Long finish. Great nose. Holds up to food as well. Definitely enjoy now and for the next several years.

  • First stop on our ninth day in Napa Valley is to O'Shaughnessy Wine Estate up on Howell Mountain. Fourth wine is their Merlot from Howell Mountain.

Deep ruby core with lighter edges. Nose starts off with a bit of red cherries then leads to dark bitter cocoa and some iron. Opens up with a bit of cinnamon and tobacco. Still very young. Medium tannins (6.5/10) with well balanced acidity and a medium to medium plus body. Bright palate with red cherries, violets, cigar box, dark gravel and some herbs. Long finish. Drink till 2027.
