  • The lacrima is a little-known grape variety from Marche (it’s a italian region), this wine was appreciated in the age of Federico Barbarossa, after it risked extinction, but today thanks to the efforts of many small winery the lacrima is living a new life. Mario Lucchetti, after having prepared the soil for a long time with his father Armando, started the wine production in 1991, and he is the owner of one of the best winemakers from this area. Today his son Paolo has taken over from his father. I bought this bottle directly in the winery, where I breathed the love of the Lucchetti family for the vineyard. Thanks to this love come the most beautiful expression of lacrima. Guardengo in the glass has an interesting color purple-red, near the glass you can perceive scents of flowers, graphite, and raspberry. In the mouth, it is soft and fresh, slightly fruity with a perception of cocoa beans.

  • A richer, riper, late harvest style of Lacrima. Medium (+) to deep purple in color, even after a couple of years. The nose is floral and aromatic, with candied violets, lavender, ripe black fruit, ripe blue fruit and cinnamon. No oak, all stainless steel. The palate is fruit forward, somewhat jammy, to the extent of appearing off-dry. The acidity is medium to medium (+), the alcohol is medium (+) (13.5%). The tannins are medium (+) and velvety. This is a more complex, richer, expression of Lacrima, with smooth, velvety mouthfeel. The best of the flight, IMHO, this is drinking well now, not likely to improve with further aging.
