  • For starters, I like my white burgundy with more of an acidic backbone than most. My thought is that this is for most white burgundy producers the most desired balance point. Nicely tropical with pineapple notes is a non starter and non purchase for me. But of course, that is just me. And 2014, which I think the best white burgundy vintage of the century so far for solid and reliable producers, fully delivered that powerful acidic backbone.

This wine, acquired in the newly on the market window, and stored impeccably since, has a long life ahead. The citrus is down and the minerality is up along with the distinctive chardonnay character of white burgundy. However, four hours in the acid really dominates at the finish. To me, great. I'm all in. We just may have a white burgundy vintage here that will survive for maybe fifteen or more years and deliver all the way along like vintages did in the pre modern era.

  • Savory, mineral, black fruit. At this point rather boring — monochromatic and austere. (At Maison de L’Amérique Latin.)
