  • 19 years later… this is in a perfect place. Enioyed over 3 hours. Nose is dusty dark fruit, palate is powerful and mature. Was expecting this to be good, but it was great.

  • Opened one of these a couple months ago and the fruit was drying out and this was on the wrong side of it's drinking window. So I opened this, obviously not expecting much, but it was much better. The fruit was vibrant and the wine showed extremely well. So I've had three bottles in the last year. Two were very nice wines and the third was in its downward spiral.

  • Showing its age and ever so slightly oxidized. Still tons of fruit though, and a good kick of acid to keep it lively. The tannins are mellowing out a bit but still there. Cherry, blackberry and oak with some smoke. It's a little bit off balance now with the acidity taking over, but the fruit/tannin/alcohol balance is good.

  • 14.2% Fading color around the edges, caramel fruit, spice, butter and almost unnoticeable VA on the nose. Some light spicy plum and blackberry on the stout palate with fine but still present mouth filling tannin's. Great structure and mouthfeel, good stuff from a ripe year.

  • Red fruits. Really nice aromatics. Showing a little maturity, but still vibrant. Some tannins, in fact, great structure. This isn't your soft, easy going Merlot, it's got some heft. Really happy with where this is right now, and the 7 years of bottle age have justified CSM labeling this as their flagship.
