  This is yet another Booker that did not required any aeration to reach its full potential. Wonderful fruit and just the right amount of tannin. Wish I had 20 more bottles.

  This was delicious and well-crafted for sure, but I have to admit that I was a bit underwhelmed for the price and reputation. Bought two bottles of Vertigo off winebid, this one and a 2014 "24 months" version (similar in many ways, will review both now.)
  
  The nose was literally all dark, slightly syrupy fruit on this. Plum or blueberry preserve, blackberry jam, etc. It was somewhat rich and present, and not needlessly jammy or pruny or anything which I appreciated, but it also felt very "simple", a literal fruit bomb, and for that matter it wasn't especially deep or intense, either. Just a gentle perfume of dark fruit preserve.
  
  The palate was exactly the same. Soft, warm, round blue and black fruit liqueur, with low acidity, notable prickly heat, and velvet tannin. The texture was really nice, and it's true that the finish lingered for some time. On day two, a slightly more interesting baking spice note emerged slightly, but the heat and the lack of acidity were still standing out to me. It was still mostly a fruit bomb with a surprisingly shy, apologetic character compared to what I've enjoyed from Paso before (and even compared to my experiences with My Favorite Neighbor.)
  
  I understand this isn't meant to be an acid-driven wine. What's more, I sometimes really love huge wines like this, from Paso, or any other hot climate. It could be the blend (I always find southern rhone style blends to feel more "medium" and generic than syrah on its own, which I drink much more). I enjoyed this for sure and don't regret the purchase, but I've simply had a number of far more exciting, complex, and powerful examples of the intended rich, voluptuous style, and it never wowed me.

  A lot milder than last year's bottle... very smooth but a bit subdued.
  
  8/24/23 Very nice: 93. I'm thinking I'm right, these Bookers reach their peaks in 5-7 years and then begin so slip...very slowly if stored right, but we should drink them 6 years from the vintage date.

  Serious red with heavy alcohol influence. Goes great with food. Needs to calm down in the bottle for couple of days to be consumed on its own.

  Wow, so big and powerful, it's almost sweet! It's the CDP blend New World style, a smack in the teeth. Loved it :)
