  • approx £9 off shelf at Tesco's in UK.

I liked this well-made lemon pithy Gavi from the risky 2017 vintage in northern Italy (massive early-season frost damage).

    C....pale, Light-Med body.

    Nose.....zilch, boring.

T.....much better: lemon zest and pith/floury tannins, solid grapefruit flavours, not especially complex or long. Good acidity. Grippy, after some time. Finishes off-dry. Not the most classy wine in the world, but doing pretty well for £9.00

VFM?....will buy again. I've had more expensive 'Estate' Gavi that hasn't been this good. Well done Tesco's 'Finest.' After a dodgy start the 2017 season in this DOCG seems to have turned out okay.

  • Acceptable Gavi, nothing special.

    N....not much. Dull.

T......some intensity, grapefruit pith, quince, lemon zest. Good acidity. Dry-ish finish.

Back label v's wine: says ''long flavours.'' It's shorter than that.

    VFM? Good, would buy again.

  • So so hard not to like. Simple white wine that has some old world edges but modern touches too. Really attractive sweet minerals and stones; as always a big chill treats such styles well.
