Cocoa, lead pencil, cassis, cedar, tobacco wrapper, and peppery spice on the nose are your introduction. The palate is medium/full-bodied, fresh, and vibrant, with dusty tannins, dried herbs, fresh, bright red currants, red plums, and cassis in the finish. Still young, this will need time in the cellar before it is ready for its prime time moment. The wine blends 90% Cabernet Sauvignon with 10% Merlot. Drink from 2027-2050.

This is an excellent wine, though it will benefit from more age (despite comments correctly noting it drinks beautifully now). The wine pours a viscous purple color, demonstrating an almost unbelievable lightness on its feet when swirled.
After about two hours in the decanter, the nose sings of blueberry, boysenberry, iodine, Christmas stollen (Germans will know), and fresh roses. Palate is seamless and balanced. Blue fruit, cool earth, mint, bay leaf, even some red currant rolled into a creamy texture worth writing home about.

Personal tasting event at Ducru-Beaucaillou with owner Bruno Borie. Aromas of violet, cherry, blueberry, graphite and leather. Extremely clean and elegant, long finish.
