  • This has been cellared since release 24 years ago and it was time to try. Served with a meal of fresh pasta. The cork was in perfect condition. Pristine, ruby brick color. Aromas of rich tobacco and cherries waft from the glass. Elegant smooth, palate with tart cherries, leather and a touch of chocolate. Astringency and fruit remain. Medium body. Long finish. This is at its peak, with some time left. A superb and elegant wine and an example of why one cellars a fine wine for decades.

  • This is the most exciting wine I've had for a long while. Light, brickish-red in colour, ethereal aromas - savoury cherries, woodlands - and a long, long finish, some tannin there, still, but above all Selvapiana's wonderful acidity providing the structure. This is one of the finest Chiantis I've ever tasted, and a textbook example of a beautifully aged wine: a reminder of why we stash bottles away for years or decades. It doesn't always pay off, but when it does - joy.

  • Wow! This is still in really good shape, and will saunter into its twenties in style. Very similar to the 2007 but just a little bit more faded...still very lively texture and not on its way out. Such a savory wine.
