  • Vin jaune at its best, not for everybody as it is a style of wine which is very divisive. If you like Sherry you will love this. Deep golden colour with some amber. On the nose and palate all the stereotypes of vin jaune: nuts, curry, raisins, ethanal etc. Bone dry with a very long aftertaste and almost immortal. If I compare this with the oxidative savagnin (2017) I drank recently: more complexity, while the other was more food-friendly due to its freshness.

  • Color dorado.

  • 15% alcohol.

Intense, luminous and still relatively youthful lemon yellow color. Attractive and very harmonious nose with aromas of creamy richness, sweet floral tones, some sweet caramel character, a little bit of bruised apple, light curry tones, sweeter hints of lemon marmalade and exotic fruits and just a sharp touch of tangy aldehydic character. The wine is intense, rich and moderately oily on the palate with full body and quite voluminous flavors of wizened peachy stone fruit, gentle aldehydic salinity that slowly grows in intensity, some steely minerality, a little bit of hay, light green apple tones, a hint of sweet honeydew melon and a touch of curry. The medium acidity feels quite modest for a Savagnin or Vin Jaune. The finish is ripe, gently sweet-toned and very rich with complex flavors of juicy citrus fruits, sharp green apples, some steely minerality, a little bit of hay, light tangy salinity of acetaldehyde, a hint of Appenzeller cheese and a touch of nutty rancio.

A very rich, remarkably ripe and qutie voluputous Vin Jaune that is incredibly complex and very approachable already, at the age of only 7 years. This atypically ripe and even somewhat unctuous Vin Jaune seems slightly more impressive and complex in comparison to Tissot's Vin Jaune En Spois 2011, but that is only because the latter still feels so young. Although this wine is great right now, I suspect En Spois will be the greater wine out of these two if given enough age.
