Darker side of medium red. Decanted, quite grainy, as if unfiltered almost. Nose of olives and cigars. Leather, cedar, black fruit. Developed into a pleasing glass with time, there is no hurry on this one at all, it has ages. Good with food.

Medium to dark red. Quite a solid wine, not giving much away at this stage. Probably a mistake not to let breathe for longer but mid BBQ and no advance planning on my part.... Chewy, tannins to the fore, mineral and tangy. Needs more time than I could give it. Half saved for day 2, will revisit.

After a 4 hour decant this blossomed into something really splendid....and I'm surprised that it is giving so much pleasure already as this is a serious bottle of Chinon (& a serious bargain!). Loire Cab Francs often gets compared to right bank Bordeaux or occasionally Burgundy - this made me think of a very good Cote Rotie...although it is definitely Chinon ! Lots of expressive savoury toned dark fruit - black olives, dark berries, liquorice, sinewy tannic structure, nice acidic lift, limestone... and a hint of something like violets. Rich, but not at all heavy, with distinct freshness....all already all pretty well integrated. This is good now, but is only going to get better... 93 ++

A High Table dinner (Restaurant Café Caron, Amsterdam, NL): Juicy black fruit, hint of earth, the vegetal notes which are so typical for the varietal are ripe, and so is the fresh acidity, gentle tannins, minerally elegance, good resonance and length. A complete package, airy and flavoursome, expressive, for drinking now and over the next 5 years. Excellent value.

Good fruit, powerful tannins, really spicy. Well integrated acidity, good length. Needs time, but very promising. Excellent QPR. 91-92+
