Flavour profile: lychees, smoke, grapefruit, steel. Very long finish. Absolutely dry but cannot hide the sweetness or aromatics of the gewurztraminer grape. Outstanding tasting experience but actually will be best paired with food. Definitely entered its drinking window - but no rush.

Really have to push back against the lower ratings here. This is magnificent Gewurz. Very forceful spice and pepper and lychee on opening. The wine settled down with about 15 minutes of air into a gorgeous mix of rose, cardamom, lemon rind, green apple, you name it. All the exotic spice of Gewurz and all the structure ZH can bring to it. An unqualified success. Many years ahead of it. I hope I have one more bottle to see what happens to this one. Score : 94-95. Relative to expectations: ++ and maybe a third in the fullness of time.
day 2 - evacuated bottle, no argon. Still very fine, not as sweet, more lemon pith on the palate. Makes me think optimal opening window is 2025-2035 or somewhere in there. Same score. A great Gewurz

Pulled a bunch of bottles. Meant to grab the Riesling, but opened this by mistake. Very fragrant with tropical fruits and sweetness. On palate, a brief sweet note giving way to complexity and a strong current and finish of acid. Paired fairly well with tuna in an asian sauce. I don’t know how to describe this other than a beautiful wine.

Golden color. Sweet, peach citrus, in the back smoky hint of spicy spices, acidity is medium, not much lychee.
