  • A Coravin glas.
Slightly one dimensional with smooth tannins, herbs and some plums left.
I would guess past its prime.

  • Not nearly as unfortunate a bottle as some people have suffered. Still good fruit in this one, with tantalizing port-y notes. Interesting and drinkable.

  • Pop and pour to marinara then pour to glass. This wine is screaming tertiary off the mountainside. It's settled into retirement age for certain, but it still takes evening walks around the neighborhood...staring into its impending twilight. Ok, I'm letting the metaphor run away from the point. My first sniffs and sips had me worried this had verged into over-tired, fruit roll-up on the side of a summer heated garbage bin (oxidized, stewed, etc.); but it seems to have enlivened somewhat with some breathing space. Any primary fruit has left the picture. There's a lot of "complexity" with decent balance of acid and flavor to be found -- irony, dirty, oxidizing plums, sheep butt, overripe blackberry, spices, etc. Early on in my wine-tasting life, I would have loved a wine like this -- a chance to experience well-aged wine and where the road ends. These days, I long for more fresh, lively wines; especially for food pairing. I can just barely discern a sense of place in this, but the cobwebs are descending over the eyes -- staring off into that twilight.

  • Had another bottle last night. All bottles bought on release and stored properly since. This is not aging well at all and has fallen off a cliff (this bottle similar to last note). Sad because I had such high hopes when it was younger. If you own any drink them very soon.
