  • Dal Forno Valpolicella Vertical (Nemogaarden): Light and clean fruit with an elegant touch. High acidity but a very beautiful and lovely wine with lots of complex flavors.

  • No idea what the previous note was talking about but best as I can guess that was a bad bottle. This was not. Off the list at Per Se. Decanted around 2 pm and brought out around maybe 7 pm and this wine was still young and brash and honestly almost a bit much. It softened in the glass and got a bit rounder. Still higher alc and lots of fruit. It suffered because I'd ordered in advance and thought it was the Amarone and this while high alc and fruit doesn't have the same sophistication that has (and at a price point like Per Se the QPR is so far from there). So it was fine, but not a wine I'd go seeking out.

  • Past it’s prime. Still enjoyable while the fruit has drifted away what remains is earthy, musty and almost elegant. Probably would be best to drink with a younger version or the Amarone which would have years and years left.

  • Impenetrable, cloudy, dark ruby in the glass. This wine is rich, lush and concentrated, but also shows an amazing softness, finesse, purity and detail. Balance is the key word. Superripe plums and forestfruit, soft spices, humidor, antique and a faint hint of grilled veggies. Truly unique and geeky.
Even improves with a couple of hours of decanter time. Getting deeper en darker! Up a notch.

  • Still drinking well, though is has definitely lost a step in terms of fruit power compared to bottles from 2012, when it was at peak. Now on the older side of maturity, it shows more authentic Italian leather and herbs with high acidity playing against the pruney/raisin notes. Drink now-2016
