After the usual barnyard smells disappeared, a very clean and fresh expression of blackcurrant-dominated CF. Not especially complex at this stage and not for me the absolute killer that some think Les Grézeaux is - just a very decent wine and a decent price, which is fine.

From a small capped bottle as part of a zoom wine tasting. Nose shows tons of pyrazines out front. crunchy - soft green pepper and tobacco very savory. Blue fruits and some nice minerality. There’s a beautiful black cherry and wild strawberry sweetness supporting the herbal savoriness. Palate is smooth and gentle; just a touch chewy. Lots of tobacco and dark cherry sweetness. Very refined and beautiful. Perfect balance of supple and chewy. Lots of flavor. Finish is light and more red with some tartness and wild strawberry and tobacco. Beautiful. Nose - 5.5/6, Palate - 5.5/6, Finish 5/6, Finish - 1.5/2 = 17.5/20.
Excellent. This was my first of three bottles purchased five years ago and I'm glad I waited as this is drinking very well now. Still shows a little reductive funk, or that's my perception. More dark fruited. Rustic, but I got no overt brett or barnyard, more turned soil. A bit of minerality, some aged meat, violets.
Nice QPR at the then-price of $25 USD.

Deja fort bon, sur le fruit rouge, tannins fins, assez vif, rien de complexe mais se boit tres bien en ce moment. Pas d’arone tertiaire, en a encore sous la pédale.

A second bottle, still shows some brett with a mild band aid note that is just annoying enough. Black fruited with an elegant herbal leaf character interwoven with the rather prominent black fruits. There an angular rustic element on the palate but this is overall pretty ripe and polished for Chinon.
