  • Bottle was in perfect condition with an amazing low neck fill. Cork was also in great shape and came out intact. Popped and poured. Drank from Riedel Vinum stems, serving temp @ 62 degrees F.
Clear burnt orange garnet color of light-medium intensity, Nose of damp minerals, forest floor, soy sauce, plums, strawberries, resinous pine, and leather. I have been told that old bordeaux can resemble old burgundy. And this was the case with this wine. Lighter bodied and a good level of acid. Palate offered up the same components as nose. Finely balanced and held extremely well for over 2 hours. Great lingering finish. What a surprise! I never would have imagined such a wonderful 1963 bordeaux largely considered a poor vintage. It was thoroughly enjoyed while reading about all the important events that occurred in the year 1963...

  • Orange/red in the glass. Scents of rhubarb and rainins, mixed with leather. Good definition of flavour with lots of orange mixed in with chocolate truffle. Not a wine of mamoth structure, yet a very pleasant drink for now. The wine waqs definitely in good condition, and had lots of elegance and poise. A REAL surprise.
