Pour nearly opaque garnet color with black cherry, pomegranate, forest floor, and mushroom aromas. On the palate, it's medium-bodied and fresh with dusty tannins. It shows black cherry, pomegranate, and savory spice flavors with appealing savory notes and a very satisfying finish.
Fruit for this wine was sourced from the Gianoli Vyd in the Mendocino Ridge AVA (approved in 1997),which is California’s first and only non contiguous AVA. It is a non contiguous trio of ridges that is defined by vineyards situated at least 1,200 feet or more in elevation, and within 10 miles of the Pacific Ocean. As one might expect given the cool climate, there's plenty of cool climate Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah grown in the AVA. But, you might be surprised to learn that old vine field blends of predominately Zinfandel planted by Italian immigrants in the late 1800s and some legendary Zinfandel has come from Mendocino Ridge.
