Clear, right red colour - no sediment. Strawberry, a hint of smokiness and a slight rubbery note on nose. Smooth, round mouthfeel. Flavours of strawberry, cherry, spice and vanilla. A little hint of rubber. Smooth tannins with a long finish and good bite. Opened nicely over an hour.

I've enjoyed other older vintages of this wine, but did not care for this bottle at all. Couldn't really detect any specific flaw, just not good juice. Maybe just in a dead phase, or maybe just an off bottle. Had while camping so could not properly decant. Will try again sometime after 2025.

No contemporaneous notes. My second of two bottles. Decant, 1/2 hour of air, back into bottle, served about an hour and a half later. Cedar and, per my friend, eucalyptus, on the nose. Medium to full bodied, rich, concentrated, with darker fruits. This is an excellent Rioja, but it is for new world palates. Still very young, (91-93).

A little more balance than I remember. Still good fruit on the nose with cedar. Very similar palette. A slightly dry finish.
