I opened this for New Year's Eve along with a 2009 Realm beckstoffer to Kalon. On night 1 the Realm stole the show but then on New Year's Day I decided to dive into this. On night 1 it was tight but after slow oxing for 24 hours it really shined on day 2. I am very impressed with every Dumol wine. Their Pinot's are exceptional but I am starting to think their Cabs are every bit as good. This is a crowd pleaser even if the group is picky.

Hundred Acre wine tasting: Blind. Still quite tight and young. Needs some time. This is a much more talented winemaker making a much better wine. If the Meteor Vineyard is a terroir you enjoy, this is the wine to buy!

This dark and rich Cabernet needs a few more years to shed some of its baby fat, but it is quite tasty at the moment. Dark purple in color and full in body, the wine offers aromas of blueberry, milk chocolate, and anise (along with a hint of violets that shows up after a few hours). The flavors are plush but savory, with notes of blackberry, espresso, gravel, and tapenade, followers by a silky finish. 14.7% alcohol.
I’ve been a fan of Andy Smith’s work since the Larkmead days, and this wine has some of the generosity of his earlier vintages. The 2015 Meteor was more precise when I had it a few years ago, but so too was the vintage (with the 2016 vintage still showing its juciness). This still has that cool blue fruit and gently floral profile I associate with Coombsville, with perhaps a bit more fruit this time around. Decant at least two hours if drinking now, but ideally wait until 2024 or later. 94 at the moment.
