  • A good amount of character for a budget wine. Tart, grippy cranberry fruit, florals and hints of crushed stones on the finish. Better with food (and a bit of decanting).

  • Decanted to aerate it. Purple colour. Berries on the nose. Smooth and fresh, with a hit of damson and blackberry, dark chocolate, some herbs, and tannins that are smoothing but still have a certain grip to them.

  • Retail $24. Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Francisca, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cão. Quite fruity on the nose with red fruit, floral notes, and a balsamic reduction thing going on. The palate is equally fruity, but also with a zingy tartness and some grippy, chalky tannins on the backend. This is perhaps not a mind-blowing, life-changing kind of wine, but it is a perfectly delightful wine, that would pair lovely with an array of food: burgers, pizza, grilled meat, BBQ, tailgates. While adding a bit of sophistication. thedrunkencyclist.com

  • Deep purple color. On the nose, there is a ton of earthy and spicy complexity, with anise, black pepper, charcoal, with a core of dark but tangy currant fruit. Medium to full-bodied with some serious grip to the tannins, but fresh acidity. Black currant and tart plum kinds of fruit, with a mix of spicy tones (anise, pepper, clove) with espresso, and underlying mineral, stony and graphite elements, lots of complexity. For a wine at this price point, this has serious concentration and could benefit from some cellar time. A schist soil blend of Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and others, aged in concrete and old French oak for nine months.
